Objectives and goals of the course

  • Feline Cardiology: Most Common Diseases (Part I & II)
In these lectures, you will learn about the most prevalent cardiac conditions in cats, their underlying causes, clinical signs, and diagnostic approaches. Expect a thorough exploration of conditions such as hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM), restrictive cardiomyopathy, and dilated cardiomyopathy. We will discuss disease progression, treatment options, and case examples to provide practical insights.
  • ECG: Basics and Normal Values
This session will provide an introduction to the principles of electrocardiography (ECG) in both cats and dogs. You’ll learn to interpret waveforms, understand normal parameters for each species, and recognize baseline differences between them. This foundation will help you identify and diagnose cardiac abnormalities in the following sessions.
  • Tachyarrhythmias: Diagnosis and Treatment
This lecture focuses on fast heart rhythms in cats and dogs, their identification on ECG, and clinical implications. We will discuss the therapeutic options to manage tachyarrhythmias, with emphasis on pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions.
  • Bradyarrhythmias: Diagnosis and Treatment
Learn about slow heart rhythms, how to diagnose them using clinical and ECG findings, and the steps involved in treatment. This session will emphasize understanding when bradyarrhythmias are pathological and require intervention.
  • ECG Exercises
A practical session to apply the theoretical knowledge of ECG interpretation for both cats and dogs. You’ll work through case-based examples to analyze, identify and manage both normal and abnormal rhythms.
